To support on MTN Uganda’s regulatory and compliance obligations, liaising with regulatory stakeholders and advocating for MTN Uganda in relation to policy, legal and regulatory reform.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Main Job Functions:
Implement MTN Uganda regulatory and compliance agenda.
Provide regulatory support to local teams within operations.
Prepare reports to management, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders.
Manage, develop, and sustain effective working relationships with various stakeholders with a view of advancing company interests.
Respond to inquiries of a regulatory nature from internal and external stakeholders.
Carry out any other obligation or duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Key Performance Areas (Smart)
Support the compliance of MTN Uganda with regulatory requirements.
Support acquisition of key regulatory approvals and resources
Implement MTN Uganda regulatory and compliance agenda.
Provide regulatory support to local teams within operations.
Prepare reports to management, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders.
Manage, develop, and sustain effective working relationships with various stakeholders with a view of advancing company interests.
Respond to inquiries of a regulatory nature from internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Bachelor’s degree in law (Honours) from a recognised University
Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre
Post Graduate Qualification in Law or Business Administration is an added advantage.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Work Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a legal or regulatory role within the telecommunications industry or at least 2 years as an Advocate in a busy Law Firm or having worked as an in-house counsel in reputable organization.
Knowledge of the Telecommunications, Legal and Regulatory landscape.
Proven track record of technical and specialized know-how in the Legal and Regulatory space.
Previous success in implementing organization wide regulatory and compliance policies.
Commercial awareness - Understands business implications of decisions and how to align with strategic goals.
General knowledge of internal control concepts and good knowledge of the business in their field.
Competencies
Ability to think innovatively and implement plans and strategies to overcome complex business and industry challenges.
Proficient knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Must possess exceptional writing skills
Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
Ability to think strategically and implement plans and strategies to overcome complex business and industry challenges.
Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction
