Busitema University

Busitema University is a multi-campus Public University located in Eastern Uganda. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill vacant positions at the University.
Interested persons who meet the minimum requirements should submit 3 sets of applications duly signed together with detailed Curriculum Vitae with names of three referees, Academic Certificates and Transcripts, Copies of Appointment letters and 3 recent passport photographs in envelopes addressed to the Directorate of Human Resource, Busitema University, P.O. Box 236 Tororo.
Applications can be submitted to the Directorate of Human Resource at Busitema University or at the Liaison Office at Lincoln Flats A2 Makerere University. Deadline for submission of applications is Friday September 6, 2024 at 5:00 pm East African Time.

  • Teaching Assistance:lecturers and professors in preparing and delivering lectures, seminars, and tutorials for undergraduate and possibly postgraduate courses in management. This may include leading small group sessions or guest lecturing.

  • Course Development: Help design and develop course materials, including lecture notes, slides, assignments, and exams, ensuring they align with the curriculum and learning outcomes.

  • Grading and Assessment: Evaluate student assignments, quizzes, exams, and other assessments, providing constructive feedback to students on their performance.

  • Student Support: Offer academic support to students, including holding office hours, advising on coursework, helping with understanding lecture content, and providing guidance on academic and career planning.

  • Research Support: Assist with academic research projects, including data collection, literature reviews, data analysis, and preparing manuscripts for publication in academic journals.

  • Administrative Duties: Perform various administrative tasks, such as organizing class materials, managing course-related communications, maintaining student records, and participating in department meetings.

  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and updating of the curriculum, ensuring it stays relevant and aligned with current trends in management theory and practice.

  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences, staying up-to-date with the latest research and teaching methods in management.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, including faculty members and administrative staff, to coordinate teaching efforts and contribute to the department’s goals.

  • Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise students undertaking research projects or internships, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.

  • Educational Qualifications: Typically requires at least a Master's degree in Management, Business Administration, or a related field. In some cases, enrollment in or completion of a Ph.D. program may be required or preferred.

  • Teaching Experience: Some experience in teaching or tutoring at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is often required. This can be gained through previous roles or as a teaching assistant during graduate studies.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Strong knowledge of management principles, theories, and practices. Specialization in specific areas such as organizational behavior, strategic management, human resource management, or marketing can be advantageous.

  • Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct academic research, including experience with research methodologies, data analysis, and academic writing. Experience in publishing research in academic journals is beneficial.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to students and peers.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and academic staff, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple responsibilities, including teaching, grading, research, and administrative tasks.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different teaching methods and technologies, including online and hybrid teaching formats, and to be flexible in a dynamic academic environment.

  • Commitment to Education: A genuine interest in teaching and mentoring students, with a commitment to enhancing the educational experience and fostering student development.

  • Professionalism: Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions, adhering to ethical standards and respecting confidentiality and academic integrity.
