The Secretary, District Service Commission Apac informs the general staff that, Applications are invited from suitable and eligible serving officers for the post which exist in the department as specified below:

Job Description

The Laboratory Assistant will perform routine laboratory tests and procedures under the guidance of a qualified laboratory technician or technologist. The role involves specimen collection, preparation, and examination while adhering to safety and quality control measures. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of tests and results, as well as ensuring the laboratory is well-organized and stocked with necessary supplies.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens.

  • Conduct routine diagnostic tests and analyze samples.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility within the laboratory environment.

  • Prepare and set up laboratory equipment for tests.

  • Record and maintain accurate laboratory test results.

  • Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory and requisitioning supplies.

  • Adhere to laboratory safety and quality assurance standards.

  • Dispose of laboratory waste according to health and safety protocols.

  • Support the senior laboratory staff with daily tasks and reporting.

  • Participate in training and capacity-building activities as required.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Techniques from a recognized institution.

  • Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council.

  • Valid annual practicing license.

  • At least one year of practical experience in a medical laboratory setting.

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and safety practices.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recording results.
