Job Description
Job Title: IT Assistant
Organisation: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Under FSRP IGAD intends to recruit IT Assistant. The IT Assistant will support the organization’s IT infrastructure, providing technical assistance to staff, maintaining hardware and software systems, and ensuring smooth IT operations. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and system optimization.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The IT Assistant will:
Provide first-level IT support to staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment including computers, printers, and peripherals.
Support the administration of IT systems, including email, file sharing, and security protocols.
Support users with Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
Assist in network administration tasks, including setting up user accounts and managing access permissions.
Support IT projects and new technology implementations as directed by the Head of ICT.
Provide IT support to staff on business support systems such as Financial Systems – Infor SunSystem and HRMS – SAGE 300 People.
Assist in maintaining IT inventory and documentation.
Ensure timely software updates, patches, and antivirus management.
Liaise with local vendors and suppliers for repairs, procurement, and maintenance of IT resources.
Perform other IT-related tasks as required.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience and technical competencies
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support or a similar role.
Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and basic networking.
Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and IT best practices.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Customer-oriented approach with a proactive attitude.
Prior experience with SunSystems and SAGE 300 is an added advantage.
Skills and competencies
Technical proficiency in IT systems and troubleshooting.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.
REMUNERATION
Negotiable with IGAD salary scale and policy and based on applicant’s qualification and experience.
