Job Description
The Internal Medicine Specialist is responsible for managing adult patients with internal organ system diseases, providing consultations, prescribing treatments, and monitoring patient progress. The role includes reporting contagious diseases to government health authorities, maintaining patient records, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to enhance patient-centered care. The specialist will also train junior doctors to ensure high standards of medical practice.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat medical conditions related to the internal organ system.
Provide medical consultations and discuss symptoms and health concerns with patients.
Analyze test results, medical records, and diagnose complex conditions.
Prescribe medications, therapies, and specialized treatments for illnesses and injuries.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Manage chronic illnesses and provide long-term care.
Advise patients on preventive healthcare and lifestyle improvements.
Report notifiable diseases to relevant government health authorities.
Maintain accurate medical records and patient histories.
Refer patients to other medical specialists when necessary.
Train and mentor junior doctors to improve their clinical competencies.
Ensure compliance with Safe Care Standards to maintain quality healthcare services.
Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide patient-centered care.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Valid full medical registration.
Valid practicing license.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role post-qualification.
