Job Description
The Internal Auditor at FINCA Uganda typically plays a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Audit Planning and Execution:
Plan, organize, and execute internal audits of FINCA Uganda’s operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in various areas, including financial reporting, operations, and regulatory compliance.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess risks within the company’s operations and financial systems, recommending improvements to mitigate these risks.
Evaluate operational efficiency and effectiveness, recommending areas for cost reduction and process optimization.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare clear and concise audit reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
Communicate audit results and present findings to senior management and the board.
Compliance and Regulatory Review:
Monitor adherence to internal policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Ensure compliance with FINCA Uganda’s financial and operational policies and identify areas of non-compliance.
Continuous Improvement:
Assist in improving the audit process by identifying opportunities for improvement in audit techniques and internal control systems.
Stay updated with changes in accounting, auditing, and regulatory standards and implement necessary adjustments.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Educational Background: A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, or ACCA) is often preferred.
Experience: Several years of experience in auditing, preferably in a financial institution or microfinance setting.
Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex data and financial statements.
Knowledge of Internal Control Systems: Understanding of how to assess and enhance internal control frameworks.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
