About the Organisation
The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council is a semi-autonomous Health Professional Regulatory and supervisory body under Ministry of Health; established by the Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 to regulate and supervise the provision of quality nursing and midwifery services to the public. Its mandate is to set and regulate standards of nursing and midwifery training and practice and provide professional guidance for public safety.
Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council is a semi-autonomous Health Professional Regulatory and Supervisory body under the Ministry of Health established by the Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 (CAP 274) with the mandate to regulate the standards of the nursing and midwifery professions in Uganda for public safety.

Job Description
Job Title: Inspectorate and Quality Assurance Manager (Re-advertised)
Organisation: Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Registrar
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Initiating and regularly reviewing Standard Operating procedures to be followed by the Council secretariat;
Liaising with training Institutions and the National Council for Higher Education to ensure that training and certification of the Nursing/Midwifery
fraternity is in line with established standards;
Developing a strategy for Research. Monitoring Sz Evaluation data management, data collection. and data analysis, for the Council;
Developing council monitoring and evaluation, and research tools, including frameworks, indicators, data collection methods, and data quality assurance measures;
Conducting program quality assurance activities such as data quality audits, capacity assessments, mid-term and final evaluation reviews, field monitoring and evaluations, and support for assessments, surveys, studies, and evaluation;
Guiding the Council on quality assurance and quality control aspects;
Developing tools to monitor the Implementation of Standards in Training Institutions;
Conducting regular Inspections of nursing clinics and maternity homes.
Producing comprehensive reports for action by the Council;
Participating in planning activities on behalf of the department;
Guiding the Council Technical Planning Committee on Quality Assurance Matters;
Supervising and appraising Staff under his/her area of Jurisdiction;
Ensuring compliance with Sectorial, National, and International Standards and practices;
Any other duty as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/Midwifery from a recognized awarding University
Possession of any Master’s Degree in Nursing /Midwifery, Public Health or Health Services Management
Any other training in the Health-related Management field will be an added advantage.
Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with a valid Practicing License
Experience:
Must have served at the level of Senior Nursing Officer for at least 3 years.
Experience in dealing with Quality assurance aspects in a busy organization is an added advantage

Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the nursing fraternity
Teamwork and interpersonal relations
Excellent communication skills
Ability to attend to details.
