Job Description
The SHE SOARS project is dedicated to promoting sexual and reproductive health and economic empowerment among out-of-school adolescent girls in Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. The Initiative Manager will:
Manage the day-to-day operations, including planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities.
Supervise and build capacity for project staff and implementing partners.
Ensure financial management in compliance with CARE and donor regulations.
Facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders and partners to enhance program impact.
Lead the design and implementation of project activities, ensuring they align with the project's objectives and timelines.
Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of project activities.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders to support project implementation and sustainability.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop detailed yearly and quarterly implementation plans and budgets.
Monitor the implementation of project activities within the available resources.
Manage project budgets and financial reporting in collaboration with the Finance Team.
Oversee procurement processes and ensure compliance with CARE and donor policies.
Ensure coordination and collaboration with key stakeholders and partners.
Contribute to resource mobilization efforts through proposal development and participation in assessments and studies.
Lead the development of funding proposals in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system.
Ensure project indicators are sex and age disaggregated and aligned with gender transformation goals.
Facilitate and document project reviews and evaluations.
Prepare reports, human interest stories, and advocacy briefs.
Supervise project staff, set performance objectives, and conduct performance evaluations.
Foster teamwork and inclusivity while promoting CARE’s core values.
Uphold safeguarding policies and promote gender equity and diversity.
Build partnerships and networks with relevant stakeholders to enhance project visibility and impact.
Engage in internal and external coordination meetings to promote learning and innovation

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large and complex projects, preferably in sexual and reproductive health or gender equality.
Proven experience in team leadership and capacity building.
Demonstrated experience in project planning, budgeting, and financial management.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership building.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Knowledge of safeguarding and gender transformative practices.
