The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University is a prestigious initiative designed to support academically talented but economically disadvantaged young people in Africa. Renewed for a second phase running from 2023 to 2034, the program will offer 1,000 scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students. It aims to enhance inclusive university education and empower youth to become transformative leaders contributing to national and regional development.

Job Description
The Inclusion and Support Services Officer will serve as the primary contact for Mastercard Foundation Scholars requiring reasonable accommodation. The officer will conduct assessments, coordinate assistive services, ensure digital platform accessibility, and guide inclusive mentorship and transition programs. They will also support the implementation of the Makerere University Policy on Persons with Disabilities, lead inclusion audits, and analyze data to enhance services and support systems.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate awareness creation on inclusion among MCFSP staff, mentors, scholars, and student leaders.
Conduct needs assessments for Scholars with special needs (academic, social, mental health, and physical accommodation).
Coordinate provision of personal assistive devices and support services.
Ensure accessibility and usability of online platforms and portals.
Guide inclusive mentorship and transition programs for scholars with disabilities.
Collaborate with the Institute of Open, Distance and e-Learning to ensure inclusive content on the university’s electronic learning platform (MUELE).
Support the implementation of the Makerere University Policy on Persons with Disabilities.
Assist the University in conducting regular disability inclusion audits.
Promote and enhance the visibility and services of the Disability Support Centre.
Collect and analyze inclusion-related data to inform service improvement.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, or Instructional Design and Technology from a recognized university.
Bachelor’s Degree in any Humanities discipline from a recognized university.
Diploma/Certificate in Inclusive Education or Disability Inclusion (if Master's is not in Special Education).
At least 5 years of experience in supporting students with disabilities in educational settings.
Proficiency in assistive technologies for hearing and visual impairments.
Skills in monitoring and evaluation of inclusion in education programs.
Competence in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital tools.
Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
