Officially opened in Mbale, Uganda on January 19, 2001, CURE Uganda is one of Africa’s leading pediatric hospitals for brain surgery and the treatment of neurological conditions. It provides minimally-invasive endoscopic neurosurgical procedures and attracts surgeons from around the world to its prestigious CURE Neuro Fellowship Program. The teaching hospital consists of three operating rooms, an 18-bed Intensive Care Unit, and 68 Ward beds. Hospital staff complete approximately 1,900 surgical procedures annually for children with conditions including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, brain tumors, and other neural tube defects. In addition to world-class clinical service, CURE Uganda ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their communities.

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda
To maintain safe and secure environment for patients, caretakers and co-workers by patrolling and monitoring hospital premises
Reporting function
Records entry & exit of hospital vehicles, visitors, patients and co-workers coming in and out of the hospital during work hours available.
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
Screens persons and baggage for unauthorized items. Directs patients, relatives and other visitors to the reception and /or outpatients, diagnostic center and wards.
Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
Traffic flow control
Controls traffic by directing drivers, opens gate for incoming and outgoing traffic.
Customer Care Function
Observes good customer care when dealing with people.
Answers telephone calls promptly and gives assistance to callers.
Patrolling
Obtains help by sounding alarms.
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
Watches and monitors hospital grounds and property.
Safety and control function
Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
Maintenance of security equipment
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunction and working with line managers to ensure that repairs are done.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Punctuality and Attendance
Report to work as scheduled.
Attend and participate in general and departmental co-workers' meetings as scheduled
Education and Professional Development
Ensures own professional development to enhance own competencies through self-assessment and/or formal performance appraisal on regular basis according to the hospital (and own) professional development plan.
Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
Identifies personal development and training needs and work with the supervisor to, help facilitate education and professional development where possible.
Maintains a good quality learning environment that supports continuing professional development, creativity and being proactive.
Spiritual Ministry participation
Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.
Attend chapel and departmental bible studies with co-workers (depending on weekly schedule)
Occupational Health & Safety function
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and processes during all work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
Participate in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace. Identify, report, & self-managing hazards where appropriate.
Ensure early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raise issues of concern when identified.

Participates in the Risk/OHS committee which is part of the Quality and Patient Safety Program and Safe Care.

Completed certificate in Security training from a reputable school/security firm is an added advantage
Education level minimum requirement O' level.
Must have work experience in security of at least one to three years
Must have no criminal record.
Must possess basic knowledge about firefighting and communication devices
Must be able to think clearly during emergency and urgent situations
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle or process confidential documents or material in an appropriate manner
Ability to read, write and speak English and one other language
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Ability to learn new security practices as may be needed
Ability to work both night and day shifts
Must be in a good physical and mental state
Must be safety conscious
Proficiency in Computer knowledge MS office and other related basic skills.
