Job Description
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal functionality of NPIL's fleet of heavy machinery. This includes performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and executing repairs. The mechanic will collaborate with the operations team to prevent equipment downtime and promote workplace safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction or mining industry, strong technical skills, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles
Diagnose mechanical problems and implement effective repair solutions
Replace or repair defective parts using appropriate tools and techniques
Maintain accurate service and repair records
Work closely with the operations team to minimize machinery downtime
Ensure adherence to safety procedures and protocols
Provide feedback on equipment condition and recommend preventive actions
Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop and work area

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Proven experience in heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills
Hands-on experience in the construction or mining sector is an advantage
Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in heavy machinery repair
High level of attention to detail and safety awareness
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
