Job Description
The Head Wholesale Credit will be responsible for driving the performance and oversight of the credit assessment team, focusing on corporate lending. The role includes ensuring rigorous credit evaluation practices, timely and quality decision-making, maintaining credit risk systems, and working closely with origination teams and senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, regulatory understanding, and deep expertise in credit risk management.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain high standards of credit quality through best practice credit assessments
Recommend only quality assets with balanced credit opinions and risk mitigations
Collaborate with origination teams to identify early risk signals and recommend actions
Provide timely advice to CCO and Credit Committees on shifts in borrower risk profiles
Ensure adherence to internal/external policies and regulatory requirements
Prepare and present comprehensive credit packs to Credit Committees
Mentor and coach team members and promote cross-functional collaboration
Defend credit opinions and ensure accurate documentation of committee decisions
Oversee implementation of credit risk systems and tools (e.g., credit rating, RAC)
Support pricing strategy and ensure value maximization in corporate credit approvals
Contribute to key risk-related initiatives, such as IFRS 9 and stress testing
Assist in the development and review of credit policies and risk appetite statements
Lead and support credit audit exercises and ensure timely response to audit queries

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics
Professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA are an added advantage
Minimum of 7 years of banking experience with a strong focus on Credit Risk Management and corporate lending
Experience with credit risk modeling and limit/collateral system management preferred
Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
Deep understanding of BoT regulations and regulatory compliance in credit management
Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and time management skills
Ability to work with data systems and perform periodic risk computations
