Job Description

JBI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (J81) is seeking a Grants Officer position for a five-year UBAID-funded U.8. President's Malaria Initiative (P) Uganda Malaria Reduction Activity. The Activity aims to improve the survival and well-being of Uganda's most vulnerable pregnant women and children in selected regions. The Activity will work with the Overnment of Uganda to improve technical, managerial, financial, and leadership capacity at all erals of the health system. It will strengthen community and household capacity to prevent malaria and to access high-quality malaria services, while maintaining gains made at the health facility.

Job Summary
The Grants Officer is a full-time position based in Oulu. They will work directly with the Grants Manager and Regional Program Coordinator to ensure that all grants maat UBAID rules and regulations requirements throughout the life of the Activity. Thay will be responsible for the overall monitoring of the regional grante including budget tracking, expenditure projections, compliance, and reporting of the grantees. They will ensure cost-effective. operational efficiency, and accountability throughout the life of the Project. The Grants Offer will report to the Regional Program Coordinator - Acholi Region.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Manage grants administration including assisting with the application, selection, and awarding process as necessary, coordinating program activities related to the scope of work of grants, encuring submission and as necessary review of program and financial documentation, and providing capacity building support and monitoring of grantes performance.

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain a grants management system for distribution of Activity sub-grants.

  • Conduct pre-award assessments of grantees in coordination with other staff, devaloy capacity-building plans, and provide support to grantees to address any gaps identified.

  • Work in class partnership with grantees to strengthen their capacity and follow up on supervision visits and capacity building action plans.

  • Derely mechanisms for appropriate monitoring and financial management to fulfil UBAID requirements for grantees.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of grantees, including regular site visits with project stall.

  • Encurs financial accountability for sub-grants, including the erie of financial reports and documentation submitted by

  • Ensure that all grantees meet UBO administrative requirements regarding inventory systems, financing reporting VAT reporting, te

  • Frovide any other administrative support related to grante management as needed.

  • Haly and support fald visits.

  • Help and support audit missions from the Activity team and но

  • Help and support in grants close-out.

  • Ensure that in your line of duty, you are aware of child safeguarding principles and guidelines and apply it in your day-to-day roles as you interact with communities and children.

  • Ensure promotion of safe child practices and mitigation, prevention, and reporting of violations of children to ensure compliance; and

  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Grants Manager or Regional Program Coordinator.

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, and/or other

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting and administration of grants in Uganda, with experience in health program grante or with 300sprafarrać.

  • Experience working with Civl Society Organizations and Faitha Based Organizations in the respective region.

  • Financial experience with UBAID-supported project and knowledge of UBAID rules and regulations required.

  • Experience mentoring, training, or other capacity building

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access); Ability to juggle multiple tasks and willingness to take initiative. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member, and

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with close attention to detail.
