About the Organisation
Kampala International University (KIU) is a private, not-for-profit institution based in Uganda. It was established in 2001 and assumed chattered status in 2009.
In pursuit of the dream to raise the next generation of problem solvers for the East African region and indeed the whole of Africa, the University operates a multi-campus system which consists of two campuses in Uganda (The Main campus in Kampala and the Western Campus in Ishaka-Bushenyi); one other university in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, while a third one is being developed in Nairobi Kenya. The University which started as a typical degree-awarding institution has now grown into the number one Private University in Uganda and is currently ranked number 5 in the country according to the 2019 Webometric Ranking, out of 50 universities. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Association of Africa Universities as well as the Inter University-Council of East Africa. Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in grant writing, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Research and identify potential funding sources
Write and edit proposals, reports, and other funding requests
Develop and maintain a grant workplan to ensure timely submission of proposals and reports
Collaborate with program staff to develop program ideas, research proposals and budget
Build relationships with funders and stakeholders to stay informed about funding opportunities and priorities
Track and report on grant outcomes and progress
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in grant writing

Qualifications and Competencies
At least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
At least 3+ years of experience in grant writing or a related field
Proven success in securing funding through grant writing
Excellent scientific writing, editing, communication skills, and analytical skills
Strong research having participated in research is an added value
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and under supervision
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to set targets, meet deadlines and work under pressure
Added Advantage:
Experience with grant management software and databases
Certification in grant writing and Scientific writing
