Capital Markets Authority
Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a semi-autonomous body responsible for promoting, developing and regulating the capital markets industry in Uganda, with the overall objectives of investor protection and market efficiency. It was established in 1996 following the enactment of the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84).
CMA is seeking graduates to join its graduate trainee program in our Finance and Procurement departments.
The candidates selected for the graduate trainee program will gain valuable experience in the areas of financial management and/or procurement and disposal management.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
Help in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Support the budgeting process by gathering relevant data and assisting in the preparation of budgets.
Monitor budget performance and analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures.
Accounts Management:
Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable.
Perform reconciliations of bank statements and other financial accounts.
Help in the maintenance of general ledger accounts.
Audit and Compliance:
Support internal and external audit processes.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Data Management and Financial Systems:
Enter and manage financial data in accounting software and financial systems.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Financial Planning and Strategy:
Contribute to the development of financial strategies and plans.
Participate in financial planning meetings and provide analytical support.
Project Support:
Assist in various financial projects and initiatives as assigned.
Provide research and analysis to support project objectives.
Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, such as different departments and senior management.
Prepare and present financial reports and findings to relevant stakeholders.

Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications (Optional but beneficial):
Pursuing or having certifications such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA can be an added advantage.
Skills
Analytical Skills:
Strong ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial data management and reporting.
Communication Skills:
Effective written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information and interacting with stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills to address financial issues and develop effective solutions.
Time Management:
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Team Collaboration:
Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with various departments within the organization.
