Transform large, complex datasets into pragmatic, actionable insights, and leverage data to identify, quantify and influence tangible business gain by performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in reports, dashboards, and charts.
Support ad hoc data requests from users
Explore and integrate new technology and tools to provide business users with data in a more timely and usable fashion.
Evaluate datasets for accuracy and quality using statistical data quality procedures, software, or test-driven
approaches to ensure quality assurance and resolve any issues that may arise.
Support ongoing BAU maintenance and upstream data changes into the enterprise data platforms.
Support data projects by providing requirements specifications, UAT, and post-implementation validation.
Provide test interfaces for users to test reports and dashboards before deployment to the production environment and conduct technical user training as needed to enable users to effectively interpret BI solutions.
Implement analytical model designs, perform any necessary restructuring, and review the Dataset implementations performed by the Data engineer.
Assist in developing and implementing a program of continuous improvement of analytics processes through a cycle of analysis of existing systems, processes, and tools, identifying areas for improvement, implementing high-impact changes, and getting feedback from stakeholders.
Adhere to set data management standards
Channel data issues to relevant support teams and proactively track them to their conclusion.
Adhere to and support the implementation of FIF’s Data Strategy.
Escalate any breaches in SLAs and significant events to the Senior Global Data Analyst, providing due reasons as applicable.
Develop and maintain documentation/manuals on processes, procedures, models developed, reports generated, and statistical solutions devised.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a busy commercial business environment.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of proven data science & analytics performance.
Experience with relational Databases such as Oracle, SQL queries, or OLAP cubes is preferred.
Experience in developing credit scorecards will be an added advantage.
Experience with common Data Science toolkits, such as R, Python, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.
Excellence in at least R and/or Python is highly desirable.
Experience in risk analytics (model development, strategy and framework, scorecard development, documentation, validation, governance, implementation, and automation, etc.) will be a strong advantage
Understanding credit bureaus and non-traditional data providers will be a plus
Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, and Pig, with experience in NoSQL databases, including MongoDB, Cassandra, and HBase.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong applied statistics skills, including distributions, Statistical Testing, and Regression Analysis, with proficiency in scripting and programming.
Knowledge of Agile software development processes and performance metric tools.
Excellent understanding of Machine learning techniques and Algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM and Decision Forests.
Excellent understanding of data concepts and experience in data management capabilities, including data definitions, data quality management and data integration.
Strong presentation skills, practical business and technical writing, and proficient verbal communication skills to support informed decision-making and practical actions.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex data flow and designs.
Self-motivated and able to dynamically determine priorities.
Understanding of data governance issues, policies, regulatory requirements, and industry information affecting the business environment.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with team members across boundaries and contribute productively to the team’s work and output, demonstrating respect for diverse perspectives.
Able to utilise strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to foster effective and productive user relationships and partnerships across the network.
Demonstrates the highest personal and professional integrity with a strong work ethic.

Availability to travel up to 30% of the time
This position is based in Pakistan, or Uganda, or Georgia.
