Job Description
Job Title: Fleet Manager
Organisation: Next Media
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Head of Operations
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective management of the company’s vehicle fleet. This includes overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles, as well as managing fuel, insurance, and other related costs. The Fleet Manager will also ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, while providing excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement fleet plans, including vehicle selection, procurement, and disposal.
Oversee maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
Monitor and optimize fuel consumption, explore alternative fuel options, and implement fuel-saving initiatives.
Manage insurance policies, claims, and risk management strategies to minimize liability.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
Develop and manage fleet budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders, including drivers, managers, and other departments.
Analyze fleet data, identify trends, and provide insights to inform business decisions.
Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality and value.
Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in fleet management or transportation field.
Valid driver’s license with a number of classes and clean driving record
Knowledge of local roads and routes.
Skills: Strong analytical, organizational skills, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience in fleet management software and data analysis tools.
