Job Description
The Finishing In-charge will be responsible for managing the finishing department, which includes Labels (Paper, Self-Adhesive, BOPP, PVC, PET) and flexible packaging (Laminates, LD Film, Soap Wrapper, Pouching). The role requires effective management of materials, human resources, and production planning. The position will lead a team of operators and technicians, ensuring high-quality outputs and efficient workflow while maintaining safety and operational standards. The incumbent will oversee equipment maintenance, track production metrics, collaborate with other departments, and promote continuous improvement across the department.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee finishing processes: slitting, cutting, rewinding, laminating, and packaging
Ensure quality control through regular inspections
Manage equipment operation and conduct preventive maintenance
Coordinate production planning and scheduling
Lead, train, and supervise the finishing team
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the finishing process
Enforce safety protocols and conduct safety training
Maintain production records and inventory tracking
Collaborate with printing, QC, and logistics teams
Ensure environmental compliance and waste management
Monitor and optimize material usage to reduce waste
Track performance using KPIs like defect rates, downtime, productivity, and delivery metrics

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Preferably a Ugandan National or holder of a Certificate of Residence (Expatriates may apply)
Minimum of a High School Certificate
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
At least 5 years of supervisory experience in the finishing section within a related industry
Aged between 35–40 yearsKey Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of Gravure printing
Strong quality control and defect detection skills
Expertise in precision finishing tasks (slitting, cutting, laminating)
Leadership and training ability
Strong production and schedule management
Effective communicator and team collaborator
Familiarity with testing methods and print standards
Ability to reduce waste and optimize efficiency
Risk assessment and mitigation in production environments
