Job Description
Job Title: Finance Volunteer (Fresher US NGO Jobs)
Organisation: International Rescue Committee (IRC)
Duty Station: Kiryandongo, Uganda
The Finance Volunteer is responsible for assisting the finance team in the day-to-day accounting operations in accordance with IRC’s policies and procedures and in accordance with the generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Under the direction of the Finance Assistant, the Finance Volunteer maintains the cash books and is responsible for the accounts payable functions of the department.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare cash transaction vouchers.
Manage mobile money account and ensure timely payments.
Preparation of invoice journals in Integra.
Reconcile mobile money accounts and cash accounts.
Supports the manager to compile projections for the field office.
Ensure IRC policies and procedures are respected in all the cash transactions.
Ensure control and use of office stationary.
Work closely with Administration to raise hotel bookings for visitors to the field.
Manages vendor payments.
Develop and maintain efficient filling system for the field office.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the manager.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance or a Diploma with 1 years’ experience.
Minimum of 1 year working in the finance function.
Experience working with NGOs (preferred but not a prerequisite).
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Knack for detail. Able to communicate effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel,).
Must be able to function comfortably in a loosely structured but complex work environment, working and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English with program staff.
Good supervisory skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
