The Aga Khan Education Service in Uganda was established in the early 1930s in 20 villages and towns, including Masaka, Mbale, Jinja and Mbarara.
Currently, AKES in Uganda runs co-educational day schools located in central Kampala and attended by over 30 nationalities at Nursery, Primary and Secondary levels.
Over the years the institutions of AKES in Uganda have come to be recognised as spaces for inquiry, development, learning and quality education from the nursery to secondary level. A total student population of over 2000 children are taught by 150 full-time teaching staff, who are supported by part-time and volunteer educators.

The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network and one of the largest private, not-for-profit, non-denominational educational networks in the developing world.
Aga Khan Education Service, Uganda is currently seeking to recruit a Facilities Project Manager for AKES, Uganda, which operates three schools in Uganda. The Facilities Project Manager (FPM) position is a one-year, fixed-term contract to oversee the design and construction of several facilities projects budgeted for 2024.
The FPM will be responsible for tendering, evaluating tenders, selecting design consultants and engineers, selecting contractors, monitoring project construction and certifying project completion. This will be done in conjunction with the
Regional Facilities Team and a Board member of AKES,U.
Financial Planning and Analysis
Budgeting: Develop and manage the company’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Forecasting: Create financial forecasts to predict future financial trends and performance.
Financial Modeling: Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
Financial Reporting
Monthly and Quarterly Reports: Prepare and present financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Variance Analysis: Analyze financial variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures, providing explanations for significant differences.
Management Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to senior management to inform business decisions.
Cash Flow Management
Cash Flow Projections: Prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure the organization has adequate liquidity to meet its obligations.
Working Capital Management: Optimize the management of receivables, payables, and inventory to improve cash flow.
Financial Controls and Compliance
Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
Audit Coordination: Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings.
Investment and Funding
Investment Analysis: Evaluate potential investment opportunities and make recommendations based on risk and return analysis.
Funding Strategies: Develop strategies for raising capital, including debt and equity financing.
Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with banks, investors, and other financial institutions.
Cost Management
Expense Control: Monitor and control organizational expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the financial viability of projects and initiatives.
Strategic Financial Guidance
Business Strategy: Provide financial insights and guidance to support the development and implementation of business strategies.
Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial performance and progress towards goals.
Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the organization.

A proven record in managing small construction projects, should have structural engineering qualification and experience, and understand structural, architectural and MEP drawings.
S/he should have an eye for detail, be able to manage contractors to meet project timelines and project cost, and trouble-shoot as necessary.
S/he should have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and should be able to use Microsoft Office packages as well as CAD tools.
