Job Description
Reporting to the Head of External & Corporate Affairs, the External Affairs Officer will play a key role in executing the corporate affairs strategy. This includes coordinating corporate social investment (CSI) activities, executing stakeholder engagement plans, developing and implementing the company’s communication strategies, managing media relations, and supporting brand positioning efforts. The officer will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with partners and the media while also driving stakeholder education initiatives and monitoring communication performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Corporate Social Investment (CSI):
Coordinate CSI outreach activities in line with policy and guidelines
Execute CSI activities as planned and follow up on implementation
Consolidate findings and submit reports on CSI activities
Conduct sensitization campaigns based on the company’s CSI pillars
Stakeholder Engagement:
Execute a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan
Identify and engage complementary partners and stakeholders at all levels
Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders to identify and address needs
Promote and enhance the company’s brand visibility among stakeholders
Public Relations and Communications:
Develop and implement a comprehensive communication plan
Prepare company spokespeople for media interviews and public appearances
Write and draft brand storytelling articles
Manage media relations and coordinate public relations events (e.g., dealer conferences)
Conduct media analysis and position the company effectively in public domains
Collaborate with other departments to disseminate information about new products/brands
Monitor communication strategy performance using KPIs

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or demonstrable equivalent experience
Professional qualification in Public Relations or Communication is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in a similar role from a reputable organization
Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred
Experience in corporate affairs is an added advantage
Key Competencies and Skills:
Excellent written communication skills, including drafting messages, reports, and proposals
Strong planning and reporting abilities
High interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to influence, negotiate, and make sound decisions
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
