We are seeking experienced educationalists to conduct qualitative data collection as part of
our ongoing evaluation of the PEAS-DES Inspect and Improve Programme.
Those in the role will be conducting the World Management Survey, an interview designed to measure leadership skills within schools.
The surveys would be conducted over the phone, and last for around an hour. Training in use of the tool will be provided.
The roles will be temporary, running for around 3 weeks in June.
Reimbursement is 60,000 UGX per survey as well as a data and airtime allowance for contacting schools.
Data Collection: Conduct face-to-face interviews, telephone surveys, or administer questionnaires to gather specific information from respondents, following standardized procedures and protocols.
Explain Survey Purpose: Explain the purpose of the survey or data collection effort to respondents, ensuring they understand the nature of the questions and the confidentiality of their responses.
Ask Questions: Pose survey questions to respondents in a clear, neutral manner, avoiding leading or biased language that could influence their responses, and encourage honest and accurate answers.
Record Responses: Record respondents' answers accurately and completely on paper forms, electronic devices, or computer software, ensuring data quality and consistency throughout the data collection process.
Clarify Responses: Clarify ambiguous or unclear responses from respondents, asking follow-up questions as needed to obtain additional information or to resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies in the data.
Verify Information: Verify the accuracy and completeness of respondents' answers by cross-checking information against other sources or by asking probing questions to confirm details or resolve discrepancies.
Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of respondents' information by adhering to strict confidentiality protocols and data protection regulations, safeguarding sensitive data from unauthorized access or disclosure.
Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up visits or phone calls to reach respondents who were unavailable or unwilling to participate initially, and make repeated attempts to collect data from non-responsive individuals or households.
Report Progress: Provide regular progress reports to supervisors or project managers, documenting completed interviews, pending assignments, and any challenges or issues encountered during data collection.
Compliance with Guidelines: Adhere to survey protocols, guidelines, and ethical standards established by the research organization, government agency, or client commissioning the survey, ensuring compliance with survey methodology and quality standards.
Training and Development: Participate in training sessions or workshops to familiarize themselves with survey instruments, data collection techniques, interview protocols, and ethical considerations, and to enhance their interviewing skills and professionalism.
Feedback and Improvement: Provide feedback to supervisors or project managers on survey procedures, questionnaire design, or logistical challenges encountered during data collection, and contribute suggestions for process improvements or refinements.
Maintain Records: Maintain accurate records of completed interviews, survey forms, and other documentation related to data collection efforts, ensuring proper documentation and storage of survey materials for future reference or analysis.
Resolve Issues: Address any issues or concerns raised by respondents during the interview process, such as privacy concerns, language barriers, or difficulties understanding questions, and take appropriate steps to resolve them and ensure a positive respondent experience

Education Leadership or Conducting Qualitative Interviews
Conducting research in an education setting, assigning scores to qualitative responses.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social science or Education related course, Post graduate training in research is an added advantage.
Moderating skills, good listener, Computer (ICT) skills.
