Assets Controlled: Grain analysis laboratory, warehouses, silos and other grain handling equipment.
Asili Agriculture is a fully-mechanized largescale farming company with an integrated food security platform for East Africa that manages dual-season production of high quality maize and soybeans for supply to regional food processors. Asili became operational in January 2014 and is currently farming on over 7,000 ha of land in Western Uganda under a conservation agriculture and precision farming approach to maximize yields efficiently and sustainably.

Our Farm Hubs operate the largest staple foods farming enterprise in Uganda. We also operate grain storage and trading activities serving over 15,000 farmers and supplying over 40,000 MT of food annually. Our Producer Services Business Unit (PSBU) provides bundled services—agronomy, quality inputs supply, grain marketing and financial services—to small-scale producers (also known as smallholders) as well as customized farming services to large landowners. Our Digital Division develops AMSAF – a resilient food marketplace connecting all stakeholders - and implements digital solutions employed across our Hubs and PSBU. Today, we employ 230+ individuals and employ over 800 temporary employees. We are an ambitious and growing business with a vibrant and dedicated workforce committed to expanding equitable, resilient and regenerative food systems in the region.
The Purpose of the role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Quality Controller. As a quality controller working with a grain handling entity, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. The successful candidate will directly report to the site supervisor.
Monitoring the quality aspects of raw, in-process and finished grain products
Perform quality control analysis including tests and inspection of products and processes
Sample and identify the presence of any bacterial or non-desirable excess material using the laid out standard procedures.
Compute formulas, percentages or production specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures
Ensure good quality of packaging and storage materials
Grain reports
Prepare reports on each test performed for measuring quality, quantity and composition
Update Grain Quality standards and specifications
Review and report the principle causes of quality loss and non-conformance
Maintain records of all tests carried out and retain samples for specified periods as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure all check sheets are correctly completed and all non-compliance found have had the correct action taken and signed off
In-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
Determining, negotiating and agreeing on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
Guide in setting up of quality standards and ensure production is maintained at such standards
Establish, implement, and review Quality policies, Quality objectives, documented procedures, documents and records needed by the organization
identify relevant Grain Quality assurance training needs and opportunities for key staff
Internal and external quality audits and trainings
Participate in trainings to improve compliance
Arrange, coordinate and participate in internal and external quality audits considering compliance with the consistence and validity of issued grades, procedures and protocols that enable to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate with other divisions and units to ensure satisfaction.
Actively support the company’s initiative to acquire ISO standards 22000 accreditation

Bachelor or Diploma in food technology/science, biology, chemistry, microbiology and Agriculture etc.
Minimum 0 -1-year work experience in core essential responsibilities and duties.
Result oriented, quality-oriented individual with high level of integrity.
Able to work transparently with all team members.
Able to motivate people and to ensure quality guidelines are being followed.
Open to change and learning new systems.
