Job Description
Job Title: Enterprise and Market Risk Officer
Organisation: Housing Finance Bank
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: Manager, Enterprise and Market Risk
The role is accountable for developing and implementing policies and procedures that reduce Enterprise and Market Risk for the bank and managing the building of financial models that predict Enterprise & Market Risk exposure to the organization.
The role holder will be responsible for the oversight and management of the Bank’s interest Rate Risk, Currency/Foreign Exchange Risk, Liquidity Risk, market risk and overall Enterprise Risk.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitoring of trading limits.
Verify daily revaluation rates used for trading.
Weekly snap check on the Treasury Voice recording system.
Participate in Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)
Review of securities trading process.
Carry out other critical processes snap checks consistent with the approved timetable and workplan.
Participating in risk appetite assessment and strategic alignment review.
Participate in formulation and updating of the Bank’s recovery framework.
Coordinate Business recovery planning activities as per Recovery planning workplan.
Conduct trainings to create awareness regarding risk identification, controlling, measuring and monitoring in areas of enterprise and market risk.
Follow up implementation of actions agreed in the departmental Risk Management forums and processes.
Coordinate activities of risk champions as well as assess their performance on a quarterly basis.
Undertake Liquidity risk monitoring.
Initiate the stress testing process of the bank in key risk areas as per workplan.
Perform any other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Business degree in Risk, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management and any relevant field.
Possession of a Certified Banking qualification or Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Relevant Practical training in Enterprise and Market risk in the financial services sector.
Skills & Experience
A minimum of 5 years banking experience with at least 4 of it being in the operations, strategy and Market risk management domain.
Good understanding of Risk management principles.
Possess strong problem-solving skills. (hypothesis-driven thinking, analytical, quantitative and conceptual skills)
Thorough understanding of the evolving practices for the management of enterprise, Market and regulatory requirements.
Able to source data, perform periodic computations and report on findings.
Good Knowledge of the bank’s operational policies and procedures.
Expert Knowledge of process re-engineering and model development required.
Business Behaviours
The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
Ability to build functioning working relationships across organisational, corporate and cultural boundaries.
