In 2002, the IRC expanded to the conflict-affected Karamoja region and started working with refugees in Kampala in 2011. Following the South Sudanese refugee influx in 2015, the IRC scaled up its response in the West Nile region.

By promoting durable solutions that focus on saving lives, strengthening institutions, and supporting social cohesion, the IRC aims to bring people from harm to home, laying the foundation for long-term stability and development.
