Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Technician
Organisation: Green Power International (GPI)
Duty Station: Bugolobi, Kampala, Uganda
We are looking for an Electrical Technician with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the electrical field to support our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in electrical systems and have the capability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical installations efficiently. This position requires an individual who is proactive, has a keen eye for detail, and adheres to safety protocols.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Perform installation, and maintenance electrical systems, equipment, and components.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and determine effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
Ensure all electrical work is compliant with relevant safety regulations and standards.
Collaborate with other team members to design, modify, or upgrade electrical systems.
Provide support for electrical projects, including installation and commissioning of new systems.
Complete electrical wiring diagrams, reports, and documentation.
Respond to electrical emergencies and offer timely solutions.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.
Maintain and calibrate electrical testing equipment and tools.
Assist in training junior technicians and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
At least a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Must be registered with the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA).
Hold a valid Class C Electrical Permit.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical systems, installations, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with renewable energy systems and technologies.
Knowledge of automation and control systems.
Familiarity with electrical software tools for system design and diagnostics.
