Job Description

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala is seeking Eligible Family Members (EFMs) to fill the role of Political/Economic Management Assistant in the Political/Economic Section. This role is integral to supporting the team’s work on political and economic affairs.
This position is only open to:
• Current Mission Employees
• U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs)
• Dependents of U.S. Personal Services Contract (USPSC) assigned under COM - All Agencies
Security Clearance Required: Secret/Confidential Clearance

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

The Political/Economic Management Assistant provides essential support to the POL/ECON section. This includes:

  • Administrative, office management, records, logistics, and protocol duties.

  • Supporting the POL/ECON Counselor, Deputy Political Counselor, and other officers as needed.

  • Assisting with Leahy vetting functions in the absence of the Human Rights Officer.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

 Education:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required.


Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years in clerical, administrative, office support, event, or travel management within an office setting.


Languages:

  • Level 4 English proficiency (Fluent; written and spoken, including translation capabilities).


Job Knowledge:

  • Must be familiar with U.S. government regulations and embassy policies.

  • Should quickly grasp the basics of the section's substantive work to provide efficient support.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of administrative systems, embassy protocols, and U.S. government regulations.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
