Abaana was set up in January 1998 and aims to show young people that through sacrificing a little time and money, they can also get involved in making a difference. Abaana hopes to share the love of God in a practical way with those who need it most. Young people and some not so young take part in sponsored events, barbecues and fun nights to raise money to support the worthwhile causes. All support is welcome no matter how young or old you are.

Job Description

Curriculum Design and Implementation: Design, review, and update educational curricula, lesson plans, and learning materials to ensure they meet the needs of learners and comply with educational standards and requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program Planning and Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement educational programs, curricula, and initiatives that align with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Curriculum Design and Implementation: Design, review, and update educational curricula, lesson plans, and learning materials to ensure they meet the needs of learners and comply with educational standards and requirements.

  • Instructional Support: Provide support and guidance to teachers, instructors, and facilitators in delivering effective instruction, incorporating best practices, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Staff Training and Development: Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities for educational staff to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies in teaching and learning.

  • Student Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessment tools and methodologies to measure student learning outcomes, progress, and achievement. Analyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement and inform instructional decisions.

  • Student Support Services: Coordinate support services and interventions to address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students. Collaborate with counselors, special educators, and support staff to provide comprehensive support to learners.

  • Parent and Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with parents, families, and community organizations to support student learning and development. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, solicit feedback, and involve them in educational activities and initiatives.

  • Data Management and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on program enrollment, attendance, and outcomes. Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries to communicate program effectiveness and impact to stakeholders.

  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for educational programs and initiatives. Monitor expenditures, manage resources efficiently, and seek funding opportunities to support program sustainability and growth.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies governing education and child welfare. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Cultural Competence and Inclusion: Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational programs and practices. Create inclusive learning environments that respect and celebrate the cultural backgrounds, identities, and perspectives of all learners.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders to coordinate educational activities, share resources, and align efforts to achieve common goals. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and stakeholders to ensure clarity and transparency in educational initiatives.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for program improvement, innovation, and enhancement based on feedback, evaluation data, and emerging trends in education. Implement changes and adjustments to optimize program effectiveness and responsiveness to learner needs.

  • Leadership and Advocacy: Provide leadership, guidance, and advocacy on educational issues and initiatives within the organization and the broader community. Advocate for policies, practices, and resources that support quality education and positive student outcomes.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Minimum Degree in Education.

  • Minimum Diploma (preferably post-grad) in project planning and management or human resource management.

  • Must be proficient in email, Word and Excel.


Experience

  • At least 5 years work in a leadership position in a primary school (preferably headteacher level).

  • At least 3 years work in a non-profit, faith-based setting.

  • At least 2 years driving (manual and automatic preferred) with clean driving permit.
