Job Description
Ngora Local District Government is a local government entity in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It was established in 2010 after being split from Kumi District. The district headquarters are located in Ngora Town, about 50 kilometers north of Mbale, the largest city in the region. The district covers an area of 467 square kilometers and has a population of about 160,000 people. The main economic activities are agriculture, trade and education. The district is divided into two counties, Ngora County and Mukura County, and has 13 sub-counties and one town council.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive and maintain assigned vehicles in accordance with the district policies and procedures.
Transport district officials, staff, visitors and goods to and from various destinations as authorized.
Ensure that the vehicle is always clean, fueled and in good working condition.
Report any mechanical faults, accidents or incidents involving the vehicle to the supervisor immediately.
Keep accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, repairs and maintenance in the log book.
Adhere to the road safety rules and regulations and the district code of conduct for drivers.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications and Competencies
A valid driving permit for the class of vehicles they are assigned to drive
At least three years of driving experience in a reputable organization
A certificate of basic mechanical skills from a recognized institution
Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local languages
Knowledge of the road network and traffic regulations in Uganda
Ability to work under pressure and in challenging conditions
Honesty, integrity and professionalism
How to Apply
A duly filled PSC Form 3 of 2008 in your own handwriting should be submitted in triplicate (each with a recent coloured passport size photograph) plus copies of Academic Documents addressed to The Secretary, Ngora District Service Commission, P.O. Box 31, Ngora which should be hand delivered or received through Postal or Courier Agent not later than 15 March, 2024. Number specified against each vacancy.
The PSC form 3 of 2008 can be obtained from the Public Service Commission Kampala, any of the District Service Commissions or the Offices of the Chief Administrative Officer in Uganda, or www.psc.co.ug.
Applicants who do not hear from Ngora District Service Commission on conclusion of the selection exercise should consider their applications unsuccessful.
