Church of Uganda Teso Dioceses Planning and Development Office (COU-TEDDO) is the Development arm of Church of Uganda Soroti and Kumi Dioceses, and operates in Teso subregion.
Our mission is to excel in providing holistic and sustainable community development services based on Christian values in Teso and neighboring communities.
COU-TEDDO currently implements innovative development projects in broad thematic areas of Resilient Livelihoods, WASH, Governance, Social Accountability, Gender and Social Justice.
While our programmes are innovative, community driven and delivered through a faith-based approach, we seek to increase in terms of scale and reach so as to achieve greater and sustainable impact.
To achieve the above, COU-TEDDO requires highly motivated, flexible, proactive, results-oriented and morally upright professionals to join the current team in an anticipated new project, to serve in the following positions;
Driver job at COU-TEDDO
COU-TEDDO
The Driver will be responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation services to COU-TEDDO staff, stakeholders, and materials in support of various project activities. The role includes maintaining the vehicles in optimal condition, ensuring safety during transit, and adhering to COU-TEDDO’s Christian values, as well as road traffic laws and regulations. The Driver will also support logistical tasks such as transporting goods and materials to project sites, facilitating deliveries, and ensuring that COU-TEDDO’s operations run efficiently and effectively.
Transportation Services:
Provide safe and reliable transportation for COU-TEDDO staff, partners, and visitors to various project sites and meetings across the Teso subregion.
Transport goods, equipment, and materials to and from designated locations in support of project activities.
Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off for all assigned trips, while adhering to travel schedules.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Regularly check vehicle condition (oil, water, tires, brakes, lights, etc.) and ensure it is always in good working condition.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance as necessary, and coordinate with the administration for major repairs.
Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, both interior and exterior.
Report any vehicle malfunctions or necessary repairs to the supervisor promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to road safety regulations and traffic laws while driving.
Safeguard the safety of passengers, vehicle, and materials at all times.
Ensure that all necessary vehicle documentation, including insurance, is up-to-date and available in the vehicle.
Maintain a logbook for all vehicle trips, fuel consumption, and mileage.
Support for Logistics:
Assist in the loading and unloading of goods and materials for project activities.
Provide logistical support during field visits, including arranging accommodation, sourcing fuel, and any other tasks as needed.
Deliver and collect project-related documents to and from various offices and partners.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the administration and program teams to ensure timely transport services.
Support the team in handling any transport-related emergencies during field operations.
Act as an ambassador for COU-TEDDO, ensuring that all interactions with the public are respectful and courteous in line with the organization's values.

minimum of an O-Level Certificate of Education.
Valid driving license with classes B and CM or CH.
At least 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO or development organization.
Experience driving in rural and off-road conditions.
Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics is an added advantage.
Key Competencies:
Strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
Good communication skills and ability to interact with people from different backgrounds.
Proactive, punctual, and trustworthy.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Must be able to work flexibly, including weekends and after-hours if needed.
Commitment to COU-TEDDO’s values, including the ability to demonstrate moral integrity in all tasks.
Additional Information:
The position requires frequent travel within the Teso subregion, with occasional overnight stays in remote locations.
The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to and promote COU-TEDDO’s Christian values, vision, and mission.
