Busitema University

Busitema University is a multi-campus Public University located in Eastern Uganda. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill vacant positions at the University.
Interested persons who meet the minimum requirements should submit 3 sets of applications duly signed together with detailed Curriculum Vitae with names of three referees, Academic Certificates and Transcripts, Copies of Appointment letters and 3 recent passport photographs in envelopes addressed to the Directorate of Human Resource, Busitema University, P.O. Box 236 Tororo.
Applications can be submitted to the Directorate of Human Resource at Busitema University or at the Liaison Office at Lincoln Flats A2 Makerere University. Deadline for submission of applications is Friday September 6, 2024 at 5:00 pm East African Time.

  • Safe Operation of Vehicle: Drivers must operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws and regulations.

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular checks on the vehicle, such as oil levels, brakes, tires, and lights, to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any issues or needed repairs to the appropriate person or department.

  • Route Planning: Plan the most efficient route to the destination, taking into account traffic, road conditions, and time constraints.

  • Passenger or Cargo Safety: Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers (if transporting people) or the security and proper handling of cargo (if transporting goods).

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, deliveries made, and time logs. For commercial drivers, this may include maintaining a logbook.

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers or customers with inquiries and ensuring their needs are met.

  • Compliance with Regulations: Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations related to driving and transportation.

  • Emergency Handling: Respond appropriately to any emergencies or accidents, including contacting emergency services, providing first aid if trained, and reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities.

  • Experience: Depending on the job, some driving positions may require prior experience driving specific types of vehicles.

  • Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to handle long hours of driving and, in some cases, loading and unloading cargo.

  • Knowledge of Traffic Laws: Understanding of local, state, and federal traffic regulations and laws.

  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills to interact with customers, dispatchers, and other team members.

  • Basic Vehicle Knowledge: Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting skills to handle minor repairs or issues that may arise.

  • Background Check: Some employers may require background checks, including criminal history and drug testing, to ensure safety and reliability.

  • Professionalism: Maintaining a professional demeanor, especially when interacting with passengers, customers, or clients.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the job requirements.
