Lira University is one of the public Universities in Uganda. It started as a Constituent College of Gulu University in 2009 and attained autonomy as a fully-fledged Public University through an Act Parliament under Statutory Instrument 2015 No. 35 on the 16th July, 2015.
It was established on a niche of training students in Health Sciences. It has the first University Teaching Hospital in Uganda.

Lira University is a Public University pursuant to Statutory Instrument No. 35 of 16 July 2015 under The University's and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (as amended 2006). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates for the following post.

  • Assisting with Strategic Planning: Support the development and implementation of estate management strategies and policies that align with the organization’s objectives and long-term goals.

  • Property Management: Oversee the management of the organization’s property portfolio, including office buildings, facilities, and land. Ensure properties are maintained to a high standard and manage relationships with tenants or occupants.

  • Real Estate Transactions: Assist in negotiating and managing real estate transactions, including leases, acquisitions, and disposals. Work with legal and financial teams to ensure transactions are completed efficiently and in compliance with regulations.

  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for estate management activities. Monitor expenses, approve expenditures, and ensure cost-effective management of resources.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensure all estate management activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of real estate regulations and zoning laws.

  • Property Development and Improvement: Plan and oversee property development or improvement projects. Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

  • Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with property and real estate assets. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, including insurance coverage and safety measures.

  • Tenant and Stakeholder Relations: Manage relationships with tenants, landlords, and other stakeholders. Address any issues or concerns related to property management and ensure high levels of tenant satisfaction.

  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of facilities, including managing service contracts for cleaning, security, and other facility services. Ensure that facilities meet safety and operational standards.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports on property performance, financials, and management activities. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to real estate transactions, property management, and compliance.

  • Strategic Asset Management: Assist in the evaluation and optimization of the organization’s real estate assets. Identify opportunities for asset enhancement, consolidation, or disposal to maximize value.

  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor estate management staff. Provide guidance and support to ensure effective performance and professional development.

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about real estate trends, property values, and investment opportunities. Provide recommendations based on market insights.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate with various departments and external partners on estate-related projects and initiatives. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and effective project execution.

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in real estate management, property management, business administration, finance, or a related field is typically required. A master’s degree or professional certification in real estate or property management may be preferred.

  • Experience: Extensive experience (typically 5-10 years) in real estate management, property management, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing estates or properties. Experience in a senior or managerial role is often required.

  • Knowledge of Real Estate and Property Management: In-depth understanding of real estate principles, property management practices, and relevant regulations. Familiarity with commercial and residential real estate markets.

  • Financial and Budget Management Skills: Strong financial management skills to develop and manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and oversee expenditures.

  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills to handle real estate transactions, lease agreements, and vendor contracts.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with tenants, stakeholders, and team members. Ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze property performance, financial data, and market trends to make informed decisions and recommendations.

  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage and coordinate property development or improvement projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of real estate laws, zoning regulations, and compliance requirements. Ability to ensure that estate management activities adhere to legal and regulatory standards.

  • Risk Management Skills: Ability to identify and manage risks associated with property and real estate assets. Experience in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

  • Team Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to supervise and mentor estate management staff. Ability to motivate and guide the team to achieve departmental goals.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using real estate management software, property management systems, and general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Customer Service Orientation: Focus on providing excellent service to tenants and stakeholders. Ability to address concerns and resolve issues effectively.

  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and solve complex issues related to property and real estate management.
