Data clerk will be responsible for organizing, entering, and maintaining an updated TB contact tracing database and ensuring its’ accuracy. They will generate reports and as well as manage the physical files of the project records. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial in this role, as you'll be dealing with large volumes of information.

  • Data entry: Inputting various types of data, such as alphanumeric, numerical, or symbolic information, into computer systems or databases accurately and efficiently. This may involve using specialized software or data entry tools.

  • Data verification: Reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of data entered into computer systems or databases. Checking for errors, inconsistencies, or missing information and making corrections as needed.

  • Data maintenance: Ensuring the integrity and security of data by performing regular data maintenance tasks, such as updating records, purging outdated information, and archiving or backing up data as necessary.

  • Data retrieval: Retrieving specific data or information from computer systems or databases in response to queries or requests from users or stakeholders. Generating reports, summaries, or other outputs based on requested data.

  • Data organization: Organizing and categorizing data in a logical and systematic manner to facilitate easy retrieval and analysis. Creating and maintaining data structures, directories, or classification systems as needed.

  • Data analysis support: Assisting with data analysis tasks by preparing datasets, conducting data validation or quality assurance checks, and summarizing findings for further analysis by data analysts or decision-makers.

  • Document management: Managing electronic or physical documents related to data entry and processing. Ensuring that documents are properly filed, labeled, and stored according to established procedures and retention policies.

  • Quality control: Performing quality control checks on data entry processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards. Identifying and addressing any discrepancies or anomalies in the data.

  • Communication: Collaborating with team members, supervisors, or other stakeholders to exchange information, clarify data requirements, and resolve issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Compliance: Adhering to data privacy, confidentiality, and security regulations and policies when handling sensitive or confidential information. Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures related to data management and handling.

  • Should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics or any related qualifications.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills such as using word processing software, spreadsheets is required.


Job related experience and knowledge:

  • Experience in handling large volumes of data, using data systems and familiarity with Microsoft Access is beneficial.

  • At least 1 year’s working experience in data collection, collation and / or management

  • NGO and research experience is an added advantage

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Previous experience of project support is essential.
