Job Description
Job Title: Community Manager
Organisation: Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda (WCUGU)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
UGX: 3,000,000/= per month
The Community Manager will play a crucial role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and engaged community for WCUGU. This role involves overseeing member interactions, managing project execution, and ensuring effective communication across all platforms. It focuses on fostering a strong community, ensuring efficient project management, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Community Engagement:
Manage online platforms (forums, social media, and other digital spaces) to foster meaningful discussions, activities, and connections among members.
Create and maintain a welcoming environment that encourages participation and ensures all members feel valued and included.
Membership Growth:
Proactively recruit new members and implement strategies to retain existing ones, ensuring a growing and dynamic community.
Project Leadership:
Manage and oversee projects aligned with WCUGU’s strategic objectives.
Ensure projects are delivered effectively, on time, and within budget.
Lead project teams, coordinate efforts, and monitor progress for high-quality outcomes.
Strategy Development and Communication:
Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of WCUGU’s activities and mission.
Create, manage, and curate content for digital platforms, including websites, social media, and press releases.
Media Relations:
Cultivate relationships with media houses and coordinate media engagements to promote the user group’s initiatives.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Proven experience in community management, project leadership, and communication.
Strong understanding of social media platforms, online communities, and digital engagement.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in content creation and media relations is an added advantage.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: 3M UGX gross per month.
Benefits: NSSF and health insurance coverage for one staff member and two beneficiaries.
Work Environment: Flexible work environment with opportunities for professional development and growth.
Salary: 3,000,000 UGX
