The person in the role will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance project visibility and stakeholder engagement. This role involves creating content, managing media relations, and supporting internal and external communications to ensure effective information dissemination.
Develop Communication Strategies:
Create comprehensive communication plans aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
Identify key messages and target audiences.
Content Creation and Management:
Produce engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, and press releases.
Maintain a content calendar to ensure regular updates and timely distribution of information.
Media Relations:
Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
Write and distribute press releases and media kits.
Organize and coordinate press conferences, interviews, and media events.
Social Media Management:
Oversee the organization’s social media accounts, ensuring active and consistent engagement.
Develop social media campaigns to boost visibility and engagement.
Internal Communications:
Facilitate effective internal communication channels to keep staff and volunteers informed and motivated.
Organize and manage internal newsletters and announcements.
Brand Management:
Ensure all communications align with the organization’s branding guidelines.
Oversee the development of promotional materials, such as brochures, flyers, and videos.
Event Coordination:
Plan and execute events that promote the organization’s mission and goals.
Manage logistics, promotions, and media coverage for events.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Track the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
Analyze metrics and feedback to refine and improve communication efforts.
Crisis Communication:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
Manage the organization’s response to negative publicity or emergencies.
Training and Support:
Train staff and volunteers on communication best practices and media engagement.
Provide ongoing support and guidance on effective communication strategies.

A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience in a communications role, preferably within a nonprofit or volunteer organization.
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and design software.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge:
Understanding of the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Familiarity with media landscapes and public relations practices.
Awareness of digital marketing trends and best practices.

Passion for the cause and commitment to volunteerism.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

Familiarity with analytics tools to measure communication effectiveness.
