Job Description
Job Title: Club Manager
Organisation: Uganda Golf Club (UGC)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Uganda Golf Club (UGC) is hiring a Club Manager responsible for improving efficiency and increasing Uganda Golf Club membership, as well as guiding the execution of the Club’s strategy, including maintenance and development plans. S/he will provide leadership to the Club’s day-to-day operations to maintain financial stability, hospitality to UGC members and stakeholders, and effective course operations to achieve the Club’s Vision and Mission.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic and Annual Planning and Budgeting
Review, align with, and execute the development of strategic plans and annual business plans aimed at maximizing the opportunities available to UGC and securing UGC as a sustainable, long-term leading members’ Club.
Maintain an overview of key developments in the sector and in the country relevant to UGC’s strategy for planning and evaluation.
Review and update plans, strategy and budget as required in the light of changing circumstances.
Performance Management
Plan, monitor, and evaluate the performance of the Club as a whole and its individual components, with a particular emphasis on cost management and income/profit generation.
Plan, set, and monitor realistic targets and objectives for each component of the Club to maintain sustainability.
Plan and monitor the delivery of quality services and high standards of customer care for members and visitors.
Plan, monitor, and review the performance indicators of UGC Heads of Department (SMT) in liaison with the Management Committee.
Evaluate the key performance areas of each Club component in attaining deliverables, targets, and their individual contribution to the UGC mission and strategic objectives.
Develop operational plans to monitor the implementation of annual business plans, such as the marketing plan, price reviews, training plans, maintenance plan, and cost-containment systems, and monitor their implementation.
Team Leadership
Plan and develop strategies to maintain a motivated, productive, and appropriately managed team.
Provide overall leadership and direction to the UGC team to achieve the Club’s mission and strategic objectives.
Plan, monitor, and evaluate all Heads of Departments’ activities, including recruitment and induction, as required, performance management, support and monitoring, personal development, staff motivation, capacity building, and exceeding expectations.
Plan and monitor the implementation of UGC human resource policies, systems, and procedures, in line with labor laws and UGC best practices.
Finance, Operations, and Procurement
Plan and budget with the Management Committee, and maintain financial and procurement management for the Club.
Review and maintain effective financial management, accounting, and procurement policies and procedures in line with statutory regulations and UGC best practices.
Monitor compliance with local legislation and the financial audit process.
Plan and monitor cash flow and expenditure against the budget and timelines, and implement corrective action(s).
Plan and coordinate all Trustee, Management Committee (ManCom), and other committee meetings of the Club.
Plan and schedule the golf course operations to achieve a well-maintained course at all times.
Plan and monitor the procurement process.
Management of Uganda Golf Club Assets
Plan and monitor the fixed asset register and maintain safe custody of all fixed assets of the Club, in addition to ensuring timely disposals.
Plan and monitor stock and asset management processes, systems, and procedures to ensure compliance on all stock and assets, including cash management procedures.
Plan and execute a maintenance plan for all assets and machinery.
Stakeholder Management and Development
Maintain and promote the UGC’s reputation and positive perception.
Build and maintain good relations and strategic partnerships with all stakeholders, i.e., existing UGC members, central and local government, KCCA, relevant hospitality/members’ club professionals, businesses, partners, corporate organizations, NGOs, embassies, and community groups.
Plan, initiate, and secure financial resources and sponsorships for UGC programs, activities, and events.
Plan, grow, and retain Uganda Golf Club membership.
Key Deliverables

Maintained Golf facilities (The course and Club House).

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities.
Professional qualifications in a golf and or hospitality related field is an added advantage.
Management experience and or hotel management experience.
Knowledge of budgets, club services, and equipment management.
An understanding of golf and its traditions and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the demand of the position will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and or Experience working with sponsors stakeholders will be an added advantage.
Excellent negotiation and report-writing skills.
