It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
Project Planning and Design:
Develop detailed project plans and designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Conduct feasibility studies, site inspections, and risk assessments.
Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards.
Construction Management:
Oversee construction projects from inception to completion.
Monitor progress and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Technical Analysis and Problem-Solving:
Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects.
Solve technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to engineering problems.
Ensure structural integrity and safety of designs.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory authorities.
Conduct environmental impact assessments and ensure projects meet environmental standards.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop project budgets and manage resources effectively.
Monitor project costs and make adjustments as needed to stay within budget.
Source and manage materials and equipment.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Implement quality control procedures to ensure high standards.
Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
Test materials and structures to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and the public to provide updates and gather feedback.
Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documentation.
Address concerns and provide solutions to stakeholders.
Health and Safety Management:
Promote and ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines on site.
Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate hazards.
Train staff and workers on safety practices.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in civil engineering or specialized areas (e.g., structural engineering) are advantageous.
Licensing and Certification:
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Certifications in specialized areas (e.g., structural, environmental, geotechnical) are beneficial.
Experience:
Several years of experience in civil engineering, including project management.
Experience in specific types of projects (e.g., transportation, water resources) may be required depending on the job.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, and project management techniques.
Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong analytical skills to assess technical data and solve complex engineering problems.
Ability to develop innovative solutions and improve project efficiency.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to present technical information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Project Management Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and scheduling.
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure quality and safety.
Ability to identify potential issues and implement preventive measures.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse team and manage stakeholder relationships.
Ability to lead and motivate team members.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to conduct site inspections and work in various environments, including outdoor and construction settings.
Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and moving materials as needed.
