About the Organisation
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda, also known as the Uganda National Petroleum Authority, is governmental organisation that regulates the petroleum industry in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

Job Description
Job Title: Civil Engineer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support the review of civil and structural engineering designs submitted by licensees, to ensure they adhere to the relevant legal requirements and are compliant with the applicable codes/standards
Support the identification and adoption of the civil and structural engineering standards and codes for ensuring development of prudent civil and structural engineering facilities.
Aid in the undertaking of site monitoring of geotechnical studies, topographic surveys and construction activities to ensure that they are undertaken in accordance with the legal requirements and best industry practices.
Contribute to the assessment of licensee applications and proposals on civil engineering aspects of facilities and infrastructure to ensure compliance legislation and ensure that aspects relating to construction, operation, and decommissioning of facilities have been duly considered
Assess licensee work programs, budgets and technical studies relating to civil engineering aspects to ensure they are technically compliant and cost- effective.
Assist in the review of statutory reports submitted by licensees to ascertain that the approved work programs are being implemented according to the approved schedules and that the intended objectives of activities are achieved
Undertake any other assignments as may be given from time to time.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognized University.
Required experience:
Three (3) years of relevant experience

Conceptual and Analytical Skills.
