Equity Bank Uganda Limited, is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the central bank and national banking regulator.
Equity Bank is one of the fastest growing banks in Uganda, with a large network of 50 branches, 7,000+ EquiDuukas, 1,279 POS Terminal and 50+ ATMs spread across the country. 25 of these branches are located in Central and greater Kampala, serving over 1,800,000 customers. The Bank has deployed a number of Alternate Business Channels to enhance its product and service delivery. These include: Internet Banking, Eazzy 247- a mobile banking service, Point of Sales (POS) machines as well as partnerships with major telecom companies.

Reports to: Managing Director
To safeguard the organization’s information by developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive information security strategy. ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our data, systems and infrastructure while promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization. To ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, manage the organization’s response to security incidents and breaches, working to minimize impact and prevent future occurrences, to promote security awareness and training across the organization, ensuring all employees understand their roles in maintaining security and protecting sensitive information.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Degree in business administration or a technology-related field, or equivalent work- or education-related experience
A master’s degree in any business-related field
8 years’ experience in banking. 3 years of which must have been at management level
Demonstrated experience and success in senior leadership roles in risk management, information security, and IT or OT security
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 2700X, ITIL, COBIT/Risk IT and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework, PCI-DSS
Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL. COBIT as well as those from NIST, including 800-53 and Cybersecurity Framework
Sound knowledge of business management and a working knowledge of information security risk management and cybersecurity technologies
Up-to-date knowledge of methodologies and trends in both business and IT
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Lead Implementer or other similar credentials
