Busitema University
Busitema University is a multi-campus Public University located in Eastern Uganda. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill vacant positions at the University. Interested persons who meet the minimum requirements should submit 3 sets of applications duly signed together with detailed Curriculum Vitae with names of three referees, Academic Certificates and Transcripts, Copies of Appointment letters and 3 recent passport photographs in envelopes addressed to the University Secretary, Busitema University, P.O. Conflict Resolution: Addressing employee grievances, mediating disputes, and ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
Performance Management
Performance Appraisals: Designing and managing performance appraisal systems to evaluate employee performance and productivity.
Training and Development: Identifying training needs and overseeing the development and implementation of professional development programs.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation Strategy: Developing and managing competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain employees.
Benefits Administration: Overseeing the administration of employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
Compliance and Risk Management
Legal Compliance: Ensuring compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and workplace safety standards.
Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks related to HR practices and employee relations.
Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity Initiatives: Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the organization through targeted initiatives and programs.

HRIS Management: Overseeing the implementation and management of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) to improve HR processes and data management.

HR Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring the HR team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree: Typically required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master’s Degree: Often preferred, especially in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Business Administration (MBA).
Professional Experience
HR Experience: Extensive experience in various HR functions, with a track record of progressive responsibility and leadership roles.
Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a senior HR leadership position, such as HR Director or Vice President of HR.
Certifications
HR Certifications: Professional HR certifications can be advantageous, such as SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional), SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources), or similar credentials.
Skills and Competencies
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and inspire the HR team and influence organizational leaders.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, management, and external partners.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex HR issues.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and the use of HR metrics to inform decisions and strategies.
Change Management: Ability to lead and manage change initiatives within the organization.
Knowledge
HR Best Practices: In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
Industry Trends: Awareness of current trends and developments in human resources and the broader business environment.
