Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee and lead the financial operations of WTW's Uganda business unit. The CFO will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements. This position includes directorship responsibilities and mandates the pre-approvals and qualifications in line with Ugandan regulatory frameworks.
Reporting to the Sub-Regional Finance Officer (SEAM) and administratively to the Country CEO, the CFO will also supervise one staff member, ensuring their professional development through coaching and training. The CFO is expected to provide insightful, strategic financial guidance, ensure alignment with corporate objectives, and support continuous improvement initiatives, including M&A and integration support.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Partner with segment leaders to advise on financial implications and performance improvements
Provide financial performance reporting including month-end, quarterly close, budgeting, and forecasting
Analyze and interpret monthly results, investigating variances and making recommendations
Distribute timely financial reports and commentary to leadership
Guide leadership on spending decisions and budget alignment
Develop and monitor annual plans and quarterly forecasts
Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose operational efficiencies
Ensure consistent implementation of financial policies and accounting practices
Participate in strategic initiatives including continuous improvement and M&A integration
Maintain all regulatory licenses and ensure compliance with financial regulations
Mentor and manage a junior finance team member

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Postgraduate degree preferred
CPA Level II (minimum), CPA or ACCA fully qualified preferred
Minimum 4–7 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or business operations
Strong business acumen and financial insight
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
Excellent communication skills; ability to explain financial data to senior leadership
Knowledge of Uganda’s Intermediary Regulations and Insurance Act compliance
Must be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda
Must have a minimum of four years' experience as an accountant
Must receive written approval for appointment from the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRAU)
