Job Description
The Cashier will be responsible for preparing and managing safari-related budgets and ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions across departments. This includes managing petty cash, entering payments into accounting software, verifying transactions, issuing local purchase orders, and reconciling accounts. The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare safari, departmental, and day-to-day cash budgets
Record, authorize, and dispatch all cash payments
Ensure all supplier payments have accompanying EFD receipts before filing and entry into QuickBooks and Petty Cash file
Issue Local Purchase Orders (LPOs), submit for manager/director approval, and process payment accordingly
Accurately post all payments in QuickBooks and file all receipts and expenditures
Maintain organized filing of LPOs, payment requests, and petty cash books in serial number order
Calculate and review vehicle fuel consumption after safaris before processing final driver payments
Reconcile petty cash weekly and submit reports to the Operations Manager and Directors
Verify all cash transactions are properly authorized and supported by receipts or valid documents
Inspect purchased items for accuracy and manage credit discrepancies by assigning them to the next purchase

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
At least 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks accounting software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work independently
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
