Job Description
Job Title: BCP and Data Centre Officer
Organisation: I&M Bank Uganda
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Manager, Enterprise Systems
To plan business continuity by maintaining security and availability of datacentre infrastructure, backups, and documentation for system recovery at any point of failure, implement security measures to safeguard computer databases, design and develop system reports.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Test and patch databases, servers, and storage systems to maintain up-to-date security changes effectively and efficiently.
Maintain system backups and database replications.
Review of device firmware and timely upgrade of device operating systems to mitigate vulnerabilities and
Schedule and implement Disaster Recovery Drills periodically to test business.
Coordinate with bank ICT technical related vendors on system issues, maintenance, troubleshooting in addition to update/renewal of contracts, licenses
Monitor systems performance (availability, utilization) by daily review of logs
Develop and maintain procedures for Datacentre portfolio to stabilize configurations across the infrastructure as per industry best.
Generating and ensuring that storage, archiving, backups, and recovery procedures for all bank databases are functioning correctly.
Maintain and amend datacentre design architecture and connectivity documents when there are changes on the design or addition of devices into the test systems performance and provide performance and utilization statistics to supervisors for decision.
Design, develop and review system reports in line with the departmental and Bank policies and Business needs.
Provide system technical support troubleshoot system failures and errors, reconciliations of GL accounts, investigate system manipulation and imbalances.
Co-ordinate implementation of system upgrades, reviews and update software user guide and technical manuals with the changes or updates in the programs or systems in line with departmental policies and service level agreements (SLA)
Work closely and communicate regularly with the Manager Enterprise Systems on Technology, through relevant reports regarding security, performance, capacity planning and day- to-day database occurrences, providing technical support for database system users and training direct database power users.
Design and maintain different processes and flowcharts related to the databases interconnection and the data flow representation.
Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades when required.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or Information Technology related field
A master’s degree in the relevant field is an Added Advantage
Professional qualifications in Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Security (CCNP Security, Symantec DLP, SIEM), CEH, OSCP, Wireless technologies, F5 LTM and APM, Imperva WAF/DAM, Fortinet NSE4-8, ISO 27001, ITILv3, CISSP, NSX, Azure Fundamentals/MCSA etc. is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
At least 4 years demonstrated experience in Datacenter Business Continuity, Database, and storage Management.
Hands on experience in implementing and managing Oracle Databases is a must along with other databases like MSSQL and MYSQL.
Experience in designing on computer serves Virtual infrastructure (Hyper-V and VMware) and storage for all Datacentre systems deployments effectively without any bottlenecks to avoid performance issues.
Required Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong Monitoring and Problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in popular coding languages including Python, Java and C++ and frameworks.
Knowledge of the software development life cycle.
Process review and improvement
Demonstrate ability on Data management skills.
Service delivery
Knowledge of core banking systems
Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
