Job Description
Role level: Associate Director
Reports to: Managing Director of Operations
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Employment type: 24-month contract, salaried, full-time, with possibility of extension to permanent contract
The Uganda Country Manager is an experienced business professional who possesses a proven track record in creating a clear and coherent country strategy, overseeing positioning and growth. This is a self-motivated strategic leader who will oversee and maintain quality program delivery, establish and enforce organizational standards, report progress and outcomes, and ensure the smooth operation of the local office while fostering a healthy team environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead Uganda market strategy development planning in collaboration with the Director of East Africa Sales & Strategic Partnerships
Identify, procure, and oversee the design works of a new Sinapis office space that will fit the team and partners in a co-work expense-sharing arrangement
Speak about Sinapis programs at in-market events and conferences to garner interest for the program
Oversee and maintain quality program delivery by maintaining organizational standards and reporting the progress and outcomes of entrepreneurs and institutional partners for monitoring and evaluation purposes
Manage the Uganda operational budget and report back to the East Africa Finance Manager on the state of financials when requested
Manage legal requirements and permits for the Uganda office, with support from the East Africa Finance Manager
Hire, train, and manage Uganda staff members, overseeing development and performance while fostering a healthy culture
Demonstrate the Sinapis core values of being relational, excellent, joyful, open-handed, innovative, Christ-centered, eager to serve, and a wise steward (REJOICES)
Lean forward to meeting other needs of your manager and team as anticipated or assigned

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Either an undergraduate or graduate degree in business administration or a related field from a top school with a solid understanding of business both academically and practically
At least 7 years of work experience in business with a track record of handling or acquiring new partners and general process improvement, with preference for experience in entrepreneurship, management consulting, NGO management, or sales and operations
A heart for our mission and a passion for alleviating poverty through private-sector development
Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Strong character and integrity
Solid understanding of adult learning principles and ability to train and engage a classroom effectively
Work history that demonstrates proactivity, problem solving, creativity and organization
Knowledge of startup and SME entrepreneurship ecosystem in Uganda
Ability to thrive and deliver results as required with little supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including personnel management and partnership building, in both written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple work streams at once
Willingness to tackle any task required, regardless of whether it is outside the direct job description
