Job Description
The Assistant Spare Parts Manager will work closely with the Parts Manager to oversee the daily functions of the parts department. The role includes managing inventory, coordinating supplier relations, supervising staff, and ensuring a high level of customer service. The candidate will step in for the Parts Manager when required, prepare performance reports, and contribute to continuous improvement strategies. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong organizational skills, automotive parts knowledge, and leadership experience.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist the Parts Manager in daily departmental operations including inventory and customer service
Oversee the parts department in the absence of the Parts Manager
Coordinate with suppliers to maintain appropriate inventory levels and negotiate prices
Monitor and implement inventory control procedures to reduce discrepancies and excess stock
Supervise and train parts department staff
Provide outstanding customer service including handling inquiries, processing orders, and resolving issues
Implement process improvements to enhance department efficiency
Stay informed on trends and advancements in automotive parts and inventory systems
Generate and submit reports on inventory status, sales performance, and departmental KPIs

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in parts management, automotive service, or inventory management
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Automotive Technology, or a related field is preferred
In-depth understanding of automotive parts and their applications
Excellent organizational, leadership, and multitasking skills
Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
