Lira University is one of the public Universities in Uganda. It started as a Constituent College of Gulu University in 2009 and attained autonomy as a fully-fledged Public University through an Act Parliament under Statutory Instrument 2015 No. 35 on the 16th July, 2015.
It was established on a niche of training students in Health Sciences. It has the first University Teaching Hospital in Uganda.

Lira University is a Public University pursuant to Statutory Instrument No. 35 of 16 July 2015 under The University's and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (as amended 2006). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates for the following post.
Records Management: Assist in the creation, organization, and maintenance of physical and electronic records. This includes filing, sorting, labeling, and indexing documents according to established guidelines.
Data Entry and Updating Records: Input data into records management systems and ensure that all records are current, accurate, and complete. Update records as needed to reflect new information or changes.
Retrieval and Distribution of Records: Retrieve documents or records as requested by staff or management, ensuring proper tracking and security of information. Distribute records to authorized personnel when required.
Archiving and Disposal: Assist in the archiving of inactive records and ensure proper disposal of outdated or unnecessary records in compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
Compliance and Security: Ensure that all records are managed in compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Record Audits and Inventory: Participate in periodic audits of records to verify accuracy and completeness. Assist in maintaining an inventory of all records, identifying any gaps or discrepancies.
Supporting Digitalization: Help in the digitization of physical records, including scanning documents and ensuring they are correctly stored in electronic records management systems.
Customer Service: Provide assistance to staff and other stakeholders in locating and using records. Respond to inquiries about records management processes and policies.
Training and Support: Assist in training staff on records management policies, procedures, and systems. Provide support and guidance as needed.
General Administrative Tasks: Perform other clerical and administrative duties, such as managing correspondence, maintaining office supplies related to records management, and assisting with special projects.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Some organizations may prefer candidates with an associate's degree or coursework in records management, library science, information management, or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience in records management, administrative support, or a related field is often preferred but not always required for entry-level positions.
Knowledge of Records Management: Basic understanding of records management principles, practices, and technologies, including electronic records management systems.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and records management software. Familiarity with database management systems is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data entry, filing, and record maintenance.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain records, and handle requests efficiently.
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with staff, responding to inquiries, and providing training or guidance.
Confidentiality and Integrity: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain high standards of confidentiality and integrity.
Problem-Solving Skills: Basic problem-solving skills to address issues related to records management and find solutions for efficient record-keeping.
Physical Ability: May require physical ability to lift and move boxes of records, as well as to stand, bend, or reach as needed.
