The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns all the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks and all the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme Ltd. The company monitors Umeme Ltd and other Concessionaires in Uganda, is licensed by ERA to distribute electricity in 11 service territories covering over 93 rural and border districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda. The Company is seeking to recruit qualified, competent, and highly motivated Ugandans for the following role.
Inspection and Testing:
Assist in inspecting power lines and electrical systems for signs of wear, damage, or faults.
Help in conducting tests to ensure the integrity and functionality of electrical systems.
Emergency Response:
Respond to electrical outages and emergencies, assisting in troubleshooting and repairing faults as directed by senior linesmen.
Site Preparation:
Prepare work sites by setting up safety barriers, traffic control, and other necessary equipment.
Assist in clearing work areas and ensuring they are ready for line installation or repair work.
Documentation and Reporting:
Keep records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Report any issues, incidents, or irregularities to senior linesmen or supervisors.
Training and Development:
Participate in on-the-job training and educational programs to improve skills and knowledge.
Learn and follow industry best practices and safety standards.

Good physical health and stamina to handle the physical demands of the job, including working at heights and lifting heavy equipment.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
Safety Awareness:
Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to electrical work and working at heights.
Ability to follow safety regulations and use PPE correctly.
Communication Skills:
Good communication skills to effectively work with senior linesmen, team members, and supervisors.
Ability to follow instructions accurately and report any issues promptly.
Attention to Detail:
High level of attention to detail to ensure work is performed accurately and safely.
Driver’s License:
Valid driver’s license, and in some cases, a commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required for operating work vehicles.
Certification:
Depending on the region or employer, certification in electrical work or specific line maintenance training may be required or preferred.
