Job Description
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial operations of Posta Uganda by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with financial audits and compliance tasks. The role involves managing routine financial transactions and ensuring the company’s financial activities align with legal standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process payments, including vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and other financial obligations.
Prepare and record journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation.
Assist in the preparation of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, cash accounts, and ledgers.
Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Ensure timely filing of statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and other tax obligations.
Assist in preparing documents for internal and external audits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.

Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Partial or full completion of ACCA/CPA is an added advantage.
At least 2 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
