Job Description
The Art Teacher will be responsible for delivering Art education in line with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum, planning and assessing learner performance, and maintaining an engaging and well-managed classroom environment. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the overall development of the learners by participating in school cultural and sporting activities, supporting discipline, and attending professional development events. This role demands personal commitment to Curro’s values and educational ethos, as well as active collaboration with fellow educators to ensure successful outcomes for the FET Phase.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plan, control, record, and report on learner assessments
Create and maintain a positive and educational atmosphere in the classroom
Take responsibility for classroom equipment and resources
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective phase-wide planning and coordination
Manage, plan, assist, and promote both academic and co-curricular activities (sport and culture)
Maintain discipline within the classroom and phase
Attend required meetings, forums, and workshops
Contribute positively to the school’s ethos and values
Support other administrative and extracurricular duties as required

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A relevant academic and professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution
Proven experience in teaching Art in the FET Phase
Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE)
Experience with the IEB curriculum (advantageous)
A clear criminal record
Strong interpersonal, planning, and communication skills
A passion for education and a willingness to contribute beyond the classroom
