Job Description

Job Title:  Accounts Manager

Organisation: ASA Microfinance Uganda Ltd (ASA Uganda)

Duty Station: Ntinda, Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Deputy Chief Financial Officer

The job holder will be responsible for Financial Reporting. The objective is to provide accurate and timely information regarding the company’s financial performance and position which will help management and other stakeholders make better, more informed decisions about the company’s operational activities, growth, and future profitability based on its recent financial health and future financial potential.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.

  • Analyse financial data and trends and create financial reports to support decision making

  • Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with department heads.

  • Managing relationships with External Auditors

  • Implementation & maintenance of internal control procedures

  • Ensure accuracy of transaction postings including branches transactions

  • Manage month-end and year-end close process

  • Supervise Accounts staff under him or her

  • Any other duties assigned by management

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.

  • 8 years proven experience as an Operations officer in a similar role in a microfinance sector

  • Strong knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management

  • Familiarity with business and financial principles

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Strong problem-solving ability

  • Experience with budget and financial management

  • Interpersonal skills and proficiency in MS Office applications
